It is key to have accurate measurements for a smooth installation. You can re-drill a new hole, but be careful not to crack the concrete. Do not fill and reuse the old hole. The corner anchors should be installed after the dome is in place.
The dome is kept inflated by a 3 speed blower. When inflating or installing the dome the high speed is usually appropriate. To maintain inflation, the low speed will usually be sufficient. The mouth of the blower will fit under the wall or hem of the dome. A slit is cut into the air seal flap and the mouth of the blower is pushed through.
A covering comes with each blower to help protect it from the elements. Although blowers can be placed just about anywhere they are typically installed at the corner areas of the dome. The standard blower uses a 115 V circuit, 4.2 amps at a full load, and is rated at a 1/4-horse power. It is required that blowers are hooked up to a GFI circuit for safety purposes. One blower is recommended for every 2000 sq ft of dome.
ENTRIES
Most dome owners choose to have a straight zipper entry or an L zipper entry. Revolving airlock doors are also popular, especially for commercial applications. Proper Ph levels should be maintained in your pool water to extend the life of a revolving door (5-7 years).
The Zipper entries (L or straight) can easily be replaced by snapping the new one right over top the old one.
Zippers do eventually wear out but will last the longest if they are kept well lubricated with a silicon type spray. L zippers open from bottom to top and from left to right (when facing the dome). Both zipper entries can easily be replaced by snapping the new one right over top the old one.
Some Customers have gotten very creative with their entries. If you would like to try something different, you can order just the plain vinyl. Remember that the dome sways in the wind and so if there is a stationary object connected to it, it may rip away.
THE AIR SEAL FLAP
A flap of loose vinyl (about 14 inches wide) will run the entire inside perimeter of the dome to create an air seal. When installing this, try to flatten it as much as possible to eliminate any air leaks. At the corners you will need to slightly trim and/or fold the vinyl to help it lay flat.
Air seal flaps are easiest to deal with on straight lines. We recommend at least a 3 ft inside perimeter around your pool to allow room for this flap and walking on the edge. Be careful, the flaps tend to be slick. Some customers have gotten pretty creative with the use and concept of this air seal flap. VINYL SPECIFICATIONS
The vinyl is heat welded together to create a very strong bond. The vinyl is 0.020 inches thick (about the thickness of a credit card). The reinforced clear vinyl has been discontinued, but tests have shown that the white lets in just as much light.
The vinyl has been reinforced with tiny woven strands of polyester. This gives the material unique texture. This material has a UV protection that helps keep it from deteriorating in the sun.
Most domes last 5 to 7 years. They come with a 3 year factory warranty. The standard color choices are blue, white or tan. A large selection of custom colors is also available at a 10% charge increase on the cost of the dome.
